"New year, new me" Over the last week or so this quote has been used an awful amount, I think it is used too lightly. At the start of the year for a couple years now I myself have been saying this. I tell myself that I am going to become more organised, concentrate on school more, go out more and enjoy myself, but like the millions out there I never fully achieve my desires for the coming year. Many people say that they are going to lose weight, or eat more healthily and exercise more but after a few weeks they usually start to gradually fall back into old habits. Now personally I do not need to lose weight (I need to gain a few pounds!), but for those out there here are some tips that I have picked up from my mum's weight loss last year.
-Don't bully yourself if you slip up, it's a new routine and slip ups are allowed!
-Don't over do it; cutting out things like all sugar and fatty foods is often not as healthy as it has been previously made out to be, you need a balanced diet.
Another reason to gradually lose weight through exercise and healthy eating is that if you lose a lot of weight quickly it is very unhealthy for you and can led to more health problems. Also a lot of people put that weight back on very quickly, you need to continue the balanced diet and exercising to maintain that figure!
-Snacking, if you need to snack then snack on foods such as oatcakes or fresh vegetables.
These tips are just a few hopefully helpful notes that could be of use! I personally need to increase my exercise for fitness reasons. A few months ago I quit dance and running as I got too busy and caught up with school work. As a result I have noticed that I have caught more colds and illnesses! So I plan to increase my exercises but when it suits me, this way I don't feel pressured or upset if I'm too tired or busy to exercise!
For my organization I plan to watch less TV and when I do my work put my best into it. An incentive for me is a card I received from my grandparents. It was a well done in your exams card, inside they put well done for your B in Textiles and C in Art. I actually also got two E's, the realisation that actually I'm really not proud of it and I could have done better than I keep saying hit me. I really really need to try harder this year, in fact I need to do better, not try.
So there you go, sorry about my ramblings!
